MM

I dreamt about JFK last night the JFK, except in my dream he looked like Michael Bubble. Weird how dreams do that. He was my potential boyfriend for a night ... and i think i thought i was Marilyn Monroe. Anyway ... it was a really good dream and i'm fairly certain was brought on becuase i'm re-reading (for the third time), 'The Assassination of Marilyn Monroe'.

Best book ever! And naturally, it talks about the Kennedy's - alot. A friend and I are planning a trip to LA  - this will be the first time for me so I am fairly excited about being a typical tourist and checking out everything Marilyn.  She's so fascinating. If someone asked me the question 'if I could choose anyone to have dinner with dead or alive?' Marilyn Monroe would top the list, followed by Gabrielle Chanel, JFK, Frank Sinatra, Jackie O and Princess Diana ... can you imagine the convo going on there? Interesting times.

Just before MM had passed away, she'd bought a new house and had returned from a trip to Mexico with home furnishings. It's rather hard to find shots of her home furnished prior to her death, in fact alot of things were apparently still in boxes ... anyway where i'm going with this is mexican furniture and interiors. I plan to add some morrocan and/or mexican spice into the downstairs of our house once we embark on it, so before we admire MM herself, some mexican inspiration to liven your day ...

Love these Acapulco chairs. They were made in the 50's for a mexican resort in various colours. I have some retro wire chairs which i plan to paint in similar colours.

Hello Meh-ico!
I wonder what MM's house did look like inside? Unfortunatley, she never had the chance to finish it.
You know, i never understood the feeling behind Elton John's 'Goodbye Norma Jean' until i read this book. There's so much more to this intriguing person, i could literally talk about her life all day ... so join me in a little reflection on a woman we can all relate to - in some way - and one i wish i had the pleasure of knowing ...

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
Marilyn Monroe

True that!

  1. I feel it's time to go to Mexico.....colours ...so lacking here in Oz. So over the stale white and minimalistic, boring catalogue style interiors! Anyway that's my thought of the day. Sun is shining........oh what a colourful day!
