A good mix

Look at this picture from back in 1949.
Two of my loves. Rattan Cane furniture and Seagrass (Honan) matting all together in one place.

My first ever post on this blog was about honan matting which you can revisit here. I love the smell of it.

This is Ralph Lauren's home.

Note the height of those ceilings in the first picture. Beautiful.
Seagrass matting and cane|bamboo|rattan is a very good mix.

Yellow Cane Lounge - Recovered!

Before Christmas you may recall, or not, I did a post toying with ideas for recovering the cushioning on my yellow cane lounge, this was the post here

It's done. And it's totally the opposite to what i originally envisioned. All the fabrics are linen. I'm crossing myself that they won't fade. A tea towel linen cushion i had out there hasn't budged all through summer. Here's to hoping.

We have these tinted blinds on the front balcony due to extreme weathering coming through. I've grown to like them a lot, because they're dark, but i can still see out, it makes the area feel nice and cosy, and the darker fabric makes it less obvious or something.

You can see the slight mustard yellow in the base fabric. The cushions are reversible, the other side is a neutral linen so i can bring them in or use them out the back if i want a change.
Mr B lounging on my leg yesterday arv. He shan't be making it a habit of jumping up there, but who can resist a face like that?

Yellow & Roses

I bought this cane lounge off a woman i work with... 4 months ago. A friend took a massive liking to it, so it's been with her until just recently. It was one of those scenarios where you don't have space for something - hand it over to someone else who loves it and then regret it ... and regret it .... and regret a bit more.

As luck would have it ... my pal has bought a new house and had nowhere for it. Funny how things work out. My arms were outstretched and this time, I have space. So this is it thrown on the front balcony. It needs new fabric, but for the minute, i've already enjoyed many a late arv lounging on it and listening to the birds. Very yellow. I'm thinking a geometric print in a dusty blue or navy blue, or grey with white piping. Thoughts?
Meanwhile, someone told me that there was no way I would be able to grow a rose. Something tells me that these are in fact - roses.
There's 4 of them, and they all flowered late last week, i think. They smell gorgeous. You can see one of those is on it's last days - v pretty though.
